No, I’m not talking about Greece, Im talking about Stockton-on-Tees!

Last week was the annual Stockton Cycling Festival and this year it played host to the national road race championships. Never one to miss being part of a great cycling event Greek Cycle Holidays was proud to be involved throughout the weekend both on and off the bike (although we didn’t trouble the Pro’s for the top spots!). We had olives, feta cheese and ouzo, giving a small flavor of Greece to our shiny new stand.

We also gave the chance for riders to sort out those aching limbs with a massage by Mandy Frost Sports Massage Therapy

Thursday was the time trial races, first the under 23’s , the elite woman then the elite men’s. We were lucky enough to be situated right opposite the start and finish lines and it was great to see the likes of Alex Dowsett up close and once again running out national champion.

It also saw the start of our competition and the chance to win a personalized Greek Cycle Holiday jersey.  Congratulations to David lane from Ingleby Barwick who was the winner, and can now wear his shirt proudly while riding around North Yorkshire with the Trevine Trekkers, his local riding group.

Friday saw the junior races and again a great atmosphere on the high street with the kids on the street velodrome and other various happenings.

Saturday team GCH took to the roads, opting for the 52 mile Stockton Sportive Sport route. Once again the sun was shining and a great ride was had by all.  The most impressive part being the pork pies at the feeding station! but then again that’s probably why I had to push my bike up Commondale Bank!!!

Sunday was the road races and large crowds tuned up to see Adam Blythe just pip Mark Cavendish in a sprint to take victory.

It was also our busiest day at the stand and it was great meeting people and hearing tales of previous cycle holidays. It was also great seeing all the positivity and interest shown towards GCH.

Thank you to all that took the time to talk to us and we look forward to offering you all a cycle holiday to remember.

Thanks also to the organisers for putting on such a great event and we look forward to being part of it again next year.

You can check out some pictures of the festival on our facebook page and dont forget our great cycling selfie competition to win a weeks holiday for 4 people!
